Setting up mail on mobile devices

Use the instructions for your phone’s mail application. This guide covers Apple Mail on iPhone/iPad and the Gmail app on Android; other Android apps may use different menus.

Before you begin, confirm that your mailbox works in Webmail and open cPanel > Email Accounts > Manage > Connect Devices. Keep your full email address, mailbox password and account-specific secure server settings available. See the email server settings guide. Do not use a Microsoft, Google or Apple password for a Rhino-hosted mailbox.

Apple Mail on iPhone or iPad

  1. Open Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts.
  2. Select Add Account, enter the mailbox address and continue.
  3. For manual setup, select Add Other Account > Mail Account when offered. Older versions may show Other > Add Mail Account.
  4. Enter your name, email address, mailbox password and an account description, then continue.
  5. If Mail cannot find the settings, select IMAP. Enter both the incoming and outgoing server details from cPanel, including the full address and password for SMTP authentication.
  6. Allow Mail to verify the settings and save the account when offered.

Gmail app on Android

  1. Open Gmail and tap your profile picture.
  2. Select Add another account > Other.
  3. Enter your full email address, continue and choose Personal (IMAP).
  4. Enter the mailbox password and the incoming settings from cPanel.
  5. Complete the outgoing server settings with authentication and the matching SSL/TLS port.
  6. Finish the app prompts and choose the new mailbox from the account selector.

Check sending and receiving

  1. Wait for the initial mail synchronisation to finish.
  2. Send a short test to another address you control and reply from that address.
  3. Confirm the received reply and Sent folder in both the app and Webmail.

If a certificate warning appears, stop and check the hostname and certificate with support. Keep SSL/TLS enabled. If Webmail works but the app fails, capture the exact error without exposing credentials.
